Alakanani Itireleng is the founder and CEO of a blockchain hub in Botswana called Satoshi Centre, Africa’s first blockchain-based fundraising platform. It consists of an online marketplace that will connect Blockchain startups to investors. Affectionately known as “The Bitcoin Lady,” Alakanani is an advocate for crypto education and development in Botswana. She helps people in her community with crypto basics such as setting up a wallet, changing fiat money into cryptocurrencies, and how to invest. Satoshi Centre provides startups and developers with mentorship, training, and access to funding in a stable ecosystem where all stakeholder’s concerns are fulfilled. It also aims to provide an online live pitch competition where startups will be given an opportunity to pitch their ideas to investors and well-wishers, the same startups that under normal circumstances will not be able to attend such opportunities.
A bitcoin miner and enthusiast, Alakanani believes in the power of cryptocurrency to change the lives of people by bringing solutions to problems faced by Africans in everyday life, especially in her native city of Gaborone.
