Rebecca Carland is the Chief Investment Officer of the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation. She also serves on the investment committees of the Obama Foundation and Conservation International.

Before joining Knight, she was Chief Investment Officer at Builders Asset Management until 2025, leading a team investing globally across public and private markets. Earlier she was a Managing Director with the Walton family’s investment team and held roles at Cambridge Associates and Goldman Sachs.

She holds an MBA from the University of Virginia’s Darden School of Business and a BA from Tufts University.
