Gulnora Makhmudova serves with distinction as the Women’s Entrepreneurship Day Organization (WEDO) Regional Ambassador for Uzbekistan, contributing extensive expertise, strategic vision, and dedicated leadership to further our global mission of empowering women through entrepreneurship.
Gulnora is the Chairperson of the International Business Women’s Association of Uzbekistan (Tadbirkor Ayol)—a powerful network with over 68 branches nationwide. Under her dynamic leadership, the association has become a driving force in expanding economic opportunities for women across Uzbekistan, especially in underserved and rural communities. She has played a pivotal role in transforming the association into an internationally recognized institution committed to equipping women with the tools, training, and support they need to succeed in business.
As WEDO Ambassador, Gulnora exemplifies our values by creating lasting impact through policy engagement, skills development, and entrepreneurial innovation. Her dedication to women’s economic inclusion is reflected in her collaboration with international partners such as the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), USAID, and a range of global development stakeholders.
In her capacity as a changemaker, Gulnora has led several national and regional initiatives that align closely with WEDO’s mission. In 2021, she co-hosted a high-level conference supported by the UNDP titled “Successful Approaches to Economic Rights and Opportunities for Women”, which gathered more than 170 participants to explore inclusive economic solutions. In 2024, she launched a groundbreaking training program for women in hospitality across Tashkent, Andijan, and Samarkand—equipping over 100 women with future-forward skills in the tourism and hotel industries.
Gulnora is also a vocal advocate for rural women and women in agriculture. At the Central Asian Forum of Women Farmers, she helped spotlight the contributions of women in sustainable agribusiness and opened vital dialogue on inclusive trade and agricultural innovation.
Her unwavering dedication and collaborative spirit make Gulnora an invaluable member of the WEDO global ambassador family. Through her work, she embodies the belief that when women are empowered to lead and innovate, communities and economies flourish.
