On November 19, 2025 , iHeartMedia proudly joined us in recognizing Women’s Entrepreneurship Day (WED)—an officially proclaimed global celebration honoring women innovators, founders, and changemakers who have transformed industries and communities worldwide.
Together, we also celebrated our WEDO Pioneer Award Honorees across the country, recognizing women whose leadership, courage, and ideas continue to open doors for future generations.
Wendy Diamond, Founder of the Women’s Entrepreneurship Day Organization (WEDO), impact investor, philanthropist, and global advocate for women’s economic empowerment, shared:
“Women’s Entrepreneurship Day is about visibility, access, and action. Partnering with iHeartMedia allowed us to elevate the stories of trailblazing women—past and present—while inviting everyday listeners to help a disadvantaged woman or girl take her first step toward entrepreneurship.”
Mike Biondo, President of Business Development at iHeartMedia, added:
“Our platforms reach millions, and with that reach comes responsibility. Celebrating Women’s Entrepreneurship Day gave us the opportunity to spotlight extraordinary women and encourage our listeners to be part of something bigger—supporting women entrepreneurs and creating real impact in communities everywhere.”
Throughout the day, iHeartMedia encouraged listeners nationwide to visit JoinWEDO.org, inviting them to support a disadvantaged woman or girl as she begins her entrepreneurial journey—whether through access to education, mentorship, microloans, or opportunity. This call to action turned inspiration into tangible impact.
iHeartMedia DJs and on-air talent brought these stories to life, engaging audiences with the legacies of women whose ideas changed the world:
-
Josephine Cochrane – An American inventor who created the first commercially successful dishwasher, revolutionizing kitchens and hospitality while breaking barriers for women inventors in the 19th century.
-
Hedy Lamarr – A Hollywood actress and self-taught inventor whose frequency-hopping technology became the foundation for modern wireless communication, including Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.
-
Whitney Wolfe Herd – Founder of Bumble, who redefined online dating by empowering women to make the first move and built one of the most successful female-led tech companies in the world.
-
Ruth Wakefield – Entrepreneur and inventor of the chocolate chip cookie, whose creation became a global phenomenon and a lasting symbol of women-led innovation.
-
Susan Wagner – Co-founder of BlackRock, the world’s largest asset manager, and a pioneer in finance who helped shape modern investing and open doors for women in global finance.
-
Sandy Lerner – Co-founder of Cisco Systems, instrumental in building the infrastructure that powers today’s internet and global connectivity.
Across the country, iHeartMedia stations also highlighted local women entrepreneurs and founders within their own communities—women building businesses, creating jobs, supporting families, and inspiring others to follow in their footsteps. Sharing these local stories alongside global icons made Women’s Entrepreneurship Day deeply personal and meaningful for listeners everywhere.
We are truly grateful for iHeartMedia’s partnership and proud of the role they played on November 19—not only celebrating Women’s Entrepreneurship Day, but mobilizing millions of listeners to visit JoinWEDO.org and help women and girls around the world begin their entrepreneurial journeys and change their futures
