Suhaila Hashimi

Afghan Student, Brown University | WEDO AI Education Program Leader

Suhaila Hashimi is an Afghan student at Brown University and a passionate advocate for women’s education and empowerment through technology. After being granted asylum in the United States following the Taliban’s return to power, Suhaila has transformed her experience into purpose—dedicating herself to expanding access to education for women and girls in Afghanistan and beyond.

As the lead for the Women’s Entrepreneurship Day Organization (WEDO) AI Education Program in Afghanistan, Suhaila has mobilized and inspired more than 600 young women who are now learning artificial intelligence and entrepreneurship skills through WEDO’s global initiative. Her leadership has become a symbol of resilience, innovation, and hope for a generation of Afghan girls who have been denied formal schooling.

At Brown University, Suhaila continues her studies while championing the integration of AI, ethics, and social impact to build pathways toward equality and economic opportunity. Her story exemplifies the power of education and technology to transform lives—even in the face of adversity.
